Introduction:
An RCC or reinforced concrete column is a compressive structural member of concrete that is designed to carry compressive loads (maybe axial or axial with eccentricity), composed of concreting material (mixture of cement, Fine aggregate, coarse aggregate with water) with embedded Reinforcement of different diameter such as 8mm,10mm 12mm, 16mm, 20mm etc.,
Pillars/ RCC columns & beams give strength to a building to withstand all the loading conditions & adversities of the climate over the years & stand tall for several years together. But if the pillars & beams are placed in the wrong place, they can create adverse effects on the occupants of the house.
The number of pillars as per Vastu required for 1200 sq ft house construction should necessarily have an even number of pillars in your house for prosperity & peace. If there are an odd number of pillars in your house, you should try to build one more & make the number to be even. This is a strong suggestion as per the Vastu for pillars in the house

When we go through the column design we should mention the following point:
1) the possible distance or span & depth all depend on the load to which the beam is subjected.
2) Column size depends on the magnitude of the load on the column acting on it by beam & RCC slab
3) Many axial & Lateral loads acting on the column
4) Large span greatly influences the flexural bending moment not only on the beam but also affects the column due to stress acting on it,
5) Thumb Rule for column design are appropriate for a very small project like G+1, G+2 & G+3 Building
